Adolescents may feel angry, depressed, hopeless, and have little trust for those around them. They may experiment with drugs and alcohol, skip school, break curfews, and become involved with others who are not in their best interest. Alternatives believes that with help and learing to make positive choices, the teen can achieve more control in life.
While attending Alternatives, adolescents will be involved in an intensive counseling program where they can look at what is going on in their lives and develop some positive solutions so that things improve instead of getting worse.
Group and individual sessions provide the tools needed to better cope with depression, poor self esteem, peer pressure, substance abuse, or the trauma that occurs from physical, sexual or emotional abuse. Family involvement is expected and family therapy assists the family in learning to resolve differences and develop new ways of interacting.
Local school districts work with Alternatives to ensure no credits are lost during treatment. Alternatives provides transportation from school to the program for $2.00 per day.
